About the Shadow Veil
Most costume cloaks are exactly what they look like: an unlined rectangle of fabric with a hood attached and ties at the neck. The Shadow Veil is constructed like a garment. Heidi builds each cloak with a full lining, a structured hood, and a closure system that actually works — because a cloak that blows open in a convention hall breeze or collapses into a limp puddle when you walk defeats the purpose of wearing a cloak.
The Shadow Veil is available in a rotating selection of deep, rich fabrics — typically velvet, velveteen, or heavy brocade in jewel tones (midnight black, deep burgundy, navy, forest green, and others depending on current stock). Each fabric brings a different quality to the cloak: velvet is theatrical and rich-photographing; brocade adds pattern and texture; heavy wool is warm and period-accurate. Construction Details
The outer shell is the fashion fabric of your choice; the lining is a coordinating duchess satin or silk-blend fabric, chosen to complement the outer fabric and slide smoothly over clothing. The hood is constructed with a wire-stiffened rim for structure — it maintains its shape and frames the face rather than flopping forward or backwards. The neck closure is a decorative clasp (style varies with stock) on a band that can be adjusted for different necklines and layering.
The hem falls to floor length on a height of approximately 5'8" with flat shoes. Custom length adjustments are available at no surcharge — provide your height and preferred hem clearance.
Sizing & Custom Options
Standard sizing fits shoulder widths from 14" to 22". Custom sizing is available. Custom colour requests (specific fabric and colour combination not in stock) have a lead time of 3–4 weeks for sourcing. Embellishment options (decorative trim, embroidery, additional closures) are available as add-ons — contact for pricing.

The standard cloak is cut for a 5'8" figure with flat shoes. Provide your height and preferred hem clearance when ordering — Heidi will adjust the cut accordingly.
