Why Commission a Wedding Gown
Off-the-rack wedding gowns are designed for a specific set of proportions and require significant alterations to fit most brides. A commissioned wedding gown begins from your measurements and is built to fit your body exactly — no alterations required, no compromises on silhouette. For brides with non-standard proportions, a custom gown is often the most practical option as well as the most beautiful one.
The Premium
Wedding gown commissions are priced at Heidi's standard hourly rate of $65 with a 25% premium applied to the total labour cost — reflecting the additional complexity, the extended communication and fitting schedule, and the stakes involved in bridal wear. Materials and shipping are additional.
Timelines
A wedding gown commission requires a minimum lead time of 6 months from initial consultation to delivery — 8–12 months is strongly preferred. Rush bridal commissions are not accepted. The fitting schedule for a wedding gown typically involves 5–6 sessions over the commission period.
What to Bring to Your Consultation
Bring reference images of silhouettes you love and styles you want to avoid. Bring your undergarments and any specific footwear so we can work with your exact heel height from the start. If you have fabric swatches or specific materials in mind, bring those too.
