Day-of Logistics
Arrive earlier than you think you need to on the first day — badge pickup lines can be long, especially at large conventions. Identify the key locations you'll need (main events hall, artist alley, dealers floor, panel rooms) before you start moving through the space. Conventions are large and signage is variable; having a mental map saves frustration.
Managing Your Costume Through the Day
Your costume will be under real stress throughout a convention day. Check fit and condition at regular intervals. Most convention centres have bathrooms with full-length mirrors — use them for periodic costume checks. Carry your repair kit at all times (see the packing list). Know which elements are most likely to fail and have a plan for each failure mode.
Photography Etiquette
Always ask before photographing a cosplayer; never touch someone's costume without asking first; be aware that posing for photos is a time commitment and cosplayers are sometimes trying to get somewhere. If someone declines a photograph, accept it graciously. On the other side: as a cosplayer, you're entitled to decline photo requests at any time — you don't owe anyone your time or your image.

Conventions are physically demanding. Eat real food — not just snack-hall fare. Drink water regularly. Sit down periodically. Conventions run multiple days and the people who finish strong on day three are the ones who managed their energy rather than burning it all on day one.
