About the Apron Collection
The Chimera Costumes apron collection exists at the intersection of functionality and fandom. A full-length bib apron in a character print isn't quite a costume, but it's more than a kitchen accessory — it's an expression of identity that works in contexts where a full costume doesn't. Heidi makes these using the same construction standards she applies to everything: reinforced ties that won't snap under use, double-stitched seams throughout, and fabrics pre-washed to eliminate any finishing chemicals that might transfer to food.
These work for: cooking in character (obviously), crafting sessions where you want to protect your clothes, tending a booth at a con (the pockets are useful), wearing at cosplay sewing sessions, or giving as gifts to the geek who has everything except an apron they actually want to wear.
Construction Details
Full-length bib aprons with two front patch pockets (each large enough for a phone), adjustable neck strap with D-ring adjustment, and long waist ties designed to wrap around and tie in front. The bib is approximately 12 inches tall; the skirt falls to knee length on an average adult height. Available in adult standard and plus sizes — specify your preference when ordering.
Construction uses a sturdy cotton twill or canvas backing layer behind the fashion fabric for durability and stiffness at the pocket mouths, so the pockets stay open and accessible rather than flopping shut. Machine washable, hot or warm cycle (preshrunk).
Fabric Options
The apron collection uses the same rotating fabric library as the rest of Chimera Costumes' ready-made pieces. Current options typically include multiple character prints and non-character geeky patterns (space, science, gaming, etc.). Contact for current availability.
