About the Collection
The Chimera Costumes ties and bowties collection is built on a simple premise: there's no reason why the most character-appropriate item in an outfit has to be generic. Heidi makes ties and bowties in the same fabrics she uses for everything else — including character prints, fandom-themed textiles, classic wovens, and seasonal patterns — and constructs them with the same attention to detail that defines every piece she makes.
These work equally well as convention accessories (completing a character look without requiring a full costume), as themed event wear (office parties, themed weddings, costume-adjacent events where full cosplay isn't appropriate), and as everyday accessories for people who want their neckwear to say something.
Construction
Every tie is individually cut and constructed with a quality interlining chosen for the specific fabric — the interlining weight determines how the tie knots and how it hangs, and getting this right requires matching the interlining to the fashion fabric rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach. The result is a tie that knots cleanly, hangs straight, and holds its shape through a full day of wear.
Bowties are available in self-tie and pre-tied versions. Self-tie bowties are cut slightly larger to allow correct knotting and produce the characteristic slightly-imperfect appearance that distinguishes a real bowtie from a clip-on. Pre-tied bowties are constructed on an adjustable band and look crisp and uniform — better for certain aesthetic choices. Both are available in all fabrics.
Standard neckties are available in the standard 3.5-inch width or a slimmer 2.5-inch width — specify your preference when ordering.
