Storage
Store wigs on a wig stand or wig head — never folded or stuffed into a bag (this creates permanent kinks in the fibres). Style the wig in its intended look before storing so it doesn't need to be re-styled for every use. Keep away from direct sunlight, which bleaches and degrades synthetic fibres over time.
Detangling
Use a wide-tooth comb or a wig brush — not a standard hairbrush, which is too aggressive for synthetic fibres. Work from the ends upward, removing small tangles before working up to larger sections. Detangle when the wig is dry — synthetic wigs tangle more easily wet. Hold the wig at the base (not at the top of the cap) when combing to avoid stretching or tearing the cap.
Washing
Fill a basin with cool water and a small amount of wig shampoo or mild fabric softener. Submerge the wig and gently swish without rubbing or agitating. Rinse thoroughly in cool water. Gently press out excess water with a towel (do not wring or twist). Lay flat on a towel to dry away from heat and direct light. Do not dry on a wig stand while wet — the weight of the wet fibres stretches the cap.
