Custom Corset Commissions

Every corset is unique. Here's how the commission process works from first contact to final fitting.

The Commission Process

Heidi accepts a limited number of corset commissions per year. Every corset begins with an in-person consultation and measurement session — remote commissions are not accepted for corsets because accurate fitting is essential to both the garment's function and the client's comfort. Initial measurements include over 20 specific points that inform the pattern draft.

Pricing

The base price for a custom corset commission is $1,820, which covers 28 hours of Heidi's craftsmanship. This does not include materials, which vary significantly based on the fabrics, boning, and hardware chosen. Modesty panels, busks, and decorative elements are quoted separately. A 50% deposit is required before pattern work begins.

Construction Methods

All corsets are fully boned with quality steel boning — spiral steel for curved seams, flat steel for the busk and side panels. The interlining is typically coutil, the traditional corsetry fabric chosen for its stability and resistance to stretch. The outer fabric is chosen with the client based on their aesthetic and practical requirements.

Fitting Schedule

A typical corset commission involves 3–4 in-person fitting sessions: an initial measurement session, a mockup fitting in coutil to confirm the pattern, a first fitting in the fashion fabric, and a final fitting for finishing adjustments. Each session is scheduled based on both parties' availability.

Care and Longevity

A properly constructed and cared-for corset can last decades. Heidi provides full care instructions with every commission and offers repair services for corsets she has made.
