Essential Measurements
For a standard costume commission, Heidi requires: Bust — measured at the fullest point of the chest, keeping the tape parallel to the floor. Underbust — directly under the bust where a bra band sits. Waist — at the natural waist, the narrowest point of the torso (typically 2–3 inches above the navel). Hip — at the fullest point of the hip, typically 7–9 inches below the natural waist. Height and torso length (nape of neck to natural waist).
Additional Measurements by Garment Type
Sleeves: arm length from shoulder point to wrist, with arm slightly bent; upper arm circumference. Trousers/skirts: inseam length; thigh circumference; knee circumference (for fitted styles). Corsets: additional measurements at 1-inch intervals up the torso, plus shoulder width and rib cage shape. Corsets require the most extensive measurement set of any garment type.
How to Measure Accurately
Wear your best-fitting undergarments for measurement — the base layer you'll wear under the costume. Stand naturally without holding your breath or pulling in. Keep the tape snug but not tight — it should skim the body without compressing. Have someone else take the measurements where possible; self-measurement introduces significant error in some locations, particularly the back. Take each measurement twice to confirm accuracy.

Include your measurements with your initial commission enquiry via the contact form. Photos showing your proportions are helpful additional information — Heidi will request these for fitted garments. For corset commissions, an in-person measurement session is required rather than self-measurement.
