Renaissance Faire Dragon Dress

A dragon-print fantasy gown built for the Renaissance Faire circuit.

Design Concept

The Renfaire Dragon Dress sits at the intersection of historical fashion and fantasy — a garment that reads as period-appropriate for a Renaissance Faire context while incorporating the dragon motifs and fantastical elements that make it distinctly Chimera Costumes. The silhouette is based on a 16th-century German gown with modifications for modern wear and Faire mobility.

Dragon Fabric

The hero fabric is a jacquard woven with a dragon motif in deep jewel tones — this specific fabric required sourcing from multiple suppliers before the correct pattern scale and colour combination was found. The contrast fabric is a dupioni silk in complementary tones, used for the sleeves and underskirt.

Construction

The bodice is fully boned with flat steel boning in a historical construction method. The skirt panels are cut and assembled to allow full movement while maintaining the characteristic silhouette of the period. The finished gown has been worn at multiple Faire events and photographed extensively by professional photographers on site.
